Meet the team

Sadie is our original Flyball Dog. She is a little black X, & was born in 1995, she started Flyball when she was 18 months old & running with the Wakefield Optimist's as they were then. In those days the team times were slower & you didn't become a FD dog in one tournament. Sadie obtained her FD award in January 1999 with Wakefield Tykes @ Luton. Later that year she started running slower, & I was unable to find out why her enthusiasm had gone, unfortunately her speed has never returned. Sadie obtained her F D Intermediate in June 2002 @ Arley Moss, after being out of competition for 18 months when the WhiteRose Flyball Teams were formed & there was no team for her to run with. Sadie still enjoys her flyball & is one of the most reliable dogs we have. She obtained her Fly Ball Graduate at Coventry August 2004 and will now be going into semi retirement.
Cassie was born in 1999 & is a straight GSD/Collie cross. Cassie took to flyball quite quickly, but was not doing it consistently. Basically, she did it when she wanted, & when she wanted to play, she played. Then it suddenly clicked it was fun anyway & she always got a reward for doing it right, but not if she messed around. Cassie had a good year last year, she obtained her FD award in June 2002 @ Arley Moss followed by her FD Intermediate in August 2002 also @ Arley Moss. Cassie currently runs as lead dog for the Wagtails.
I am Macca I was born in 1995 I am a Golden retriever. I  enjoy flyball a lot and will pick up all the balls after the other dogs have dropped them - it's no mean feat you know carrying three or more balls in my mouth.

He gained his first flyball points after a long spell of running with the starters.

My name is Rex and I was born in 1998. Many of my friends have this thing called a breed but my mum  says I'm special 'cos I don't have one I've got a 'few'. When I was four months old my first family couldn't cope with me so they took me for a ride and threw me in the canal. I was pulled out and came to live with my new mum who wanted to call me "WRECKS" as I chewed through fourteen pairs of trainers, two telephone systems and a carpet. I've been doing flyball since 2000 and I get excited and bark very loudly. I encourage the other dogs when I'm not running. I don't bother barking at any other time 'cos nothing is as much fun as flyball. I got my FD Intermediate in July 2004.
Hi my name is Sooty and am I am black and white Collie cross. I was born in 2000. I live with my step mum, Sable, a geriatric German Shepherd. I went to my new home for a "weeks trial". I stayed because my step mum loved me so much. I have been doing flyball for a couple of years now. When I first started racing out of netting I would get my ball , and then go over to the other lane and try and nick their  ball . However I have now got the hang of it and have even got my Flyball award now. My mum calls me "shortie" because I am smaller than my step mum, this is now official as I am a height dog at flyball and only jump 13". This year I am going to show my mum how well I can run and hopefully get a few more points. My mum has also bought me a mobile dog kennel (folding caravan) so I can sleep in comfort at my tournaments. I got my FD Intermediate in August 2004.
